Date and Time Variables Description dialog box

Use this dialog box to assign numerical values to dates, time, and datetime variables, as follows:

 

1.Date Variables

Select one of the options from the Use Format box:

 

Year Only

Uses the year part of the date to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 is transformed to 1997.

 

Year, Year Fraction

Uses the year part of the date to form the value with the month and day parts as a fraction of the year. For example, 24/12/1997 is transformed to 1997.980822.

 

Year Fraction Only

Uses the month and day of the year as a fraction of the year to form the value.

 

Month Only

Uses the month of the year to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 is transformed to 0.980822.

 

Month, Month Fraction

Uses the month of the year to form the value with the day of the month as a fraction of the month. For example, 24/12/1997 is transformed to 12.774194.

 

Month Fraction Only

Uses the day of the month as a fraction of the month to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 is transformed to 0.774194.

 

Year Day Only

Uses the day of the year to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 is transformed to 358.

 

Month Day Only

Uses the day of the month to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 is transformed to 24.

 
2.Time Variables

Select one of the options from the Use Format box:

 

Day Fraction Only

Uses hours, minutes ,and seconds as a day fraction to form the value. For example, 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 0.521181.

 

Day Hour Only

Uses the hour part of the time to form the value. For example, 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 12.

 

Day Hour, Hour Fraction

Uses the hour part of the time to form the value with the minutes and seconds parts of the time as a fraction of an hour. For example, 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 12.508333.

 

Day Hour Fraction Only

Uses the minutes and seconds parts of the time as a fraction of an hour to form the value. For example, 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 0.508333.

 

Day Minute Only

Uses the minute of the day to form the value. For example, 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 750.

 

Day Minute, Minute Fraction

Uses the minute of the day to form the value with the seconds part of the time as a fraction of a minute. For example, 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 750.5.

 

Hour Minute Only

Uses the minute of the hour to form the value. For example, 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 30.

 

Hour Minute, Minute Fraction

Uses the minute of the hour to form the value with the seconds as a fraction of a minute. For example, 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 30.5.

 

Minute Fraction Only

Uses the seconds of the minute as a fraction of a minute to form the value. For example, 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 0.5.

 

Day Seconds Only

Uses the seconds of the day to form the value. For example, 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 45030.

 

Hour Seconds Only

Uses the seconds of the hour to form the value. For example, 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 1830.

 

Minute Seconds Only

Uses the seconds of the minute to form the value. For example, 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 30.

 
3.Datetime Variables

Select one of the options from the Use Format box:

 

Year Only

Uses the year part of the date to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 1997.

 

Year, Year Fraction

Uses the year part of the date as the value, and adds the month, day, hour, minute, and seconds parts as a fraction of the year. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 1997.98225.

 

Year Fraction Only

Uses the month, day, hour, minute, and seconds parts as a fraction of the year to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 0.98225.

 

Month Only

Uses the month of the year as the value. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 12.

 

Month, Month Fraction

Uses the month of the year as the value with the day, hour, minute , and second parts as a fraction of a month. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 12.790591.

 

Month Fraction Only

Uses the day , hour, minute, and seconds parts as a fraction of a month to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 0.790591.

 

Year Day Only

Uses the day of the year to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 358.

 

Month Day Only

Uses the day of the month to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 24.

 

Year Day, Day Fraction

Uses the day of the month to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 24.

 

Month Day, Day Fraction

Uses the day of the month to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 24.

Uses the minute of the hour to form the value with the seconds as a fraction of a minute. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 30.5.

 

Minute Fraction Only

Uses the seconds of the minute as a fraction of a minute to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 0.5.

 

Day Seconds Only

Uses the seconds of the day to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 45030.

 

Hour Seconds Only

Uses the seconds of the hour to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 1830.

 

Minute Seconds Only

Uses the seconds of the minute to form the value. For example, 24/12/1997 12:30:30 PM is transformed to 30.

 

4.Click OK to close the dialog box and save any changes you have made.

 

5.Click Cancel to close the dialog box without saving any changes you have made.
