Allows you to specify cell content format.

 

Formats

 

Default

Formats cell contents as specified by the base style.

 

NoteIf the base style type format is also set to Default, cell contents are formatted according to the Text format option.

 

Text

Specifies to format cell contents according to type in the following fashion:

 

Alphanumeric

As typed.

 

Number

As a 14 digit precision floating-point number.

 

Date

Using the format M/d/yyyy.

 

Time

Using the format h:mm:ss AM|PM.

 

Datetime

Using the format M/d/yyyy h:mm:ss AM|PM.

 

Where:

 

MMonth of the year: 1 through 12.
d Day of the month: 1 through 31.
yyyyYear with century: 1972, for example.
hHour of the day: 1 through 12.
mmZero-padded minutes: 00 through 59.
ssZero-padded seconds: 00 through 59.

 

Numeric: Locale

Formats numeric contents as indicated by the system locale settings. For all other types, this option defaults to the Text format option.

 

Numeric: Scientific

Formats numeric contents using scientific notation of precision as indicated in the Precision box. For all other types, this option defaults to the Text format option.

 

Numeric: Fixed

Formats numeric contents using fixed floating-point notation of precision as indicated in the Precision box. For all other types, this option defaults to the Text format option.

 

NoteFixed floating-point notation can be represented using scientific notation under some circumstances.

 

Numeric: Compact

Formats numeric contents using compact notation of precision as indicated in the Precision box. For all other types, this option defaults to the Text format option.

 

NoteCompact notation displays numeric values in their most simple representation.

 

Date: Locale

Formats date contents as indicated by the system locale settings. For all other types, this option defaults to the Text format option.

 

Date: Gregorian

Formats date contents as dd-MMM-yy.

 

Where:

 

ddZero-padded day of the month: 01 through 31,
MMMA three-letter month abbreviation: Jan. through Dec.
yyYear without century: 72, for example.

 

For all other types, this option defaults to the Text format option.

 

Date: International

Formats date contents as dd.MM.yyyy.

 

Where:

 

MMZero-padded month of the year: 01 through 12.

 

For all other types, this option defaults to the Text format option.

 

Date: ISO 8061

Formats date contents as yyyy-MM-dd. For all other types, this option defaults to the Text format option.

 

Time: Locale

Formats time contents as indicated by the system locale settings. For all other types, this option defaults to the Text format option.

 

Time: h:mm AM|PM

Formats time contents as h:mm AM|PM. For all other types, this option defaults to the Text format option.

 

Time: h:mm:ss AM|PM

Formats time contents as h:mm AM|PM. For all other types, this option defaults to the Text format option.

 

Time: Military

Formats time contents as HH:mm.

 

Where:

 

HHZero-padded hour of the day: 00 through 23.

 

For all other types, this option defaults to the Text format option.

 

Datetime: Locale

Formats datetime contents as specified by the system locale settings. For all other types, this option defaults to the Text format option.

 

Precision

Specifies the number of digits of precision to be used by selected numeric types. If this option is left empty, precision for numeric cell types defaults to 14 digits.

 

NoteNon-numeric cell types ignore the Precision box value.
