Sort dialog box

Top  Previous  Next

Use this dialog box to specify the context and extent for sorting information in the currently active worksheet. This dialog box can take one of two forms depending on the subject of the operation, as follows:

1.If the Sort command is carried when one or more rows are selected on the currently active worksheet, the software assumes you want to sort the columns in the worksheet and the dialog displays under the title Sort Columns.

2.If the Sort command is carried when one or more columns are selected on the currently active worksheet, the software assumes you want to sort the rows in the worksheet and the dialog displays under the title Sort Rows.

Sort Type

Select one of the following options to specify the type of the sort operation.

Coordinated

Select this option to specify you want to sort the data in coordination, ordered according to the selected key numbers (Key Number). This option affects the position of all data in the currently active worksheet.

Independent

Select this option to specify you want to sort data independently, as indicated by the selected sort numbers (Sort Number). This option restricts the operation to independent sorts within the currently active worksheet, so that the final order of items in a sorted column (or row) does not affect the order of items in other columns (or rows).
