Neurons are the processing elements of an artificial neural network, which resemble the neurons of the human brain, and therefore are referred to as neuromimes, or artificial neurons. Artificial neurons usually consist of an accumulator, which holds the sum of the inputs to the neuron, and an activation function that is fired according to the result of the accumulator.
