Interpolating piecewise polynomials are used to estimate integrals and or derivatives of empirical functions. They are constructed as disjoint interpolating piecewise-defined polynomial functions of degree n for every m, m>n, contiguous knots of the empirical function to calculate the required derivatives around points of interest and/or the interval integral.
