Histogram dialog box |
![]() ![]() ![]() |
Use this dialog box to compute the histogram of data in Predictive Systems Lab documents according to different distributions.
Input
Specifies the worksheet location of the input data for this operation.
Provides a reference to the extent of the data available in the currently active worksheet. Use this range as a guide for typing valid extents in the Input Range box.
Type in this box the range of cells containing the data you want to use as input for this command.
Refer to Specifying Input Arguments for additional information on this subject.
Output
Specifies the worksheet location for placing the results of this operation.
Select this option to place the results of this operation in a new document workbook.
Select this option to place the results of this operation in a new worksheet.
Select this option to place the results of this operation starting at the worksheet location specified in the box to the right of this option.
Check this box to plot the results of this operation.
Refer to Specifying Output Locations for additional information on this subject.
Series Context
Select this option to indicate that the data specified by the Input Range box is organized in columns.
Select this option to indicate that the data specified by the Input Range box is organized in rows.
Select this option to indicate that the data specified by the Input Range box is one series ordered across columns.
Select this option to indicate that the data specified by the Input Range box is one series ordered across rows.
Refer to Specifying Input Arguments for additional information on this subject.
Bin Specification
Select this option to indicate you want the histogram organized by series values. This option is particularly useful to learn about the distribution of the data according to the number of occurrences of each value. It will hint on the true distribution by observing the density of occurrences along the values axis.
Select this option to indicate you want the histogram organized by uniform bins. This option will divide the extent of the series to a number of bins of equal extent. When you select this option you must type the number of bins in the corresponding box.
Select this option to indicate you want the histogram organized by Gaussian bins. This option will divide the extent of the series to a number of bins with equal percentiles along the normal curve. When you select this option you must type the number of bins in the corresponding box.
Select this option to indicate you want the histogram organized by bins whose fractional lengths are given in some specified range of the currently active document worksheet. This option will divide the extent of the series into the number of bins as specified by the range. When you select this option you must type the range for the bins in corresponding box.
![]() | The given range must either be one column wide by number of bins high, or one row high by number of bins wide, of positive numbers greater than zero. The values in the range need not be in fractional form as they are normalized to a fraction: |
