ANSI Description page (Import File Description wizard)

Top  Previous  Next

Use this page to specify the format and delimiting characters for importing ANSI files.

First Line is a Header

Check this box to specify that the first line in the import file is a header.

NoteSelecting this option will map every field in the first line of the import file to column labels.

Refer to the Label Column command for additional information on column labels.

Force all Fields to Text

Check this box to specify you want to force all field values to text.

NoteThis option is necessary for instances when a text value erroneously maps to another type. Consider, for example, the case of importing a file with customer id numbers in the form ####, where # is a digit and where leading zeros are significant. To avoid a numerical interpretation of these values (and consequential removal of the leading zeros), you would resort to this option. After completing an import process with this option, you would typically proceed to remove the forced text condition from the other cells, or range of cells, that do not require it with the Remove Forced Text command.
