Event Times dialog box |
![]() ![]() ![]() |
Use this dialog box to convert an event in one or more series to their event times equivalent series, or to return event times equivalent series to the times event format. Predictive Systems Lab implements event times by transforming the original series to another series whose entries consist of the times at which the event occurs in the original series. When returning event times series to times event format, however, the resulting series consist of a series of 1's at the times the event occurred, and 0's everywhere else.
![]() | Note that in this context, Predictive Systems Lab considers the first entry of time series to have taken place at time zero. |
Input
Specifies the worksheet location of the input data for this operation.
Provides a reference to the extent of the data available in the currently active worksheet. Use this range as a guide for typing valid extents in the Input Range box.
Type in this box the range of cells containing the data you want to use as input for this command.
Check this box to indicate that the data specified by the Input Range box is organized in rows as opposed to columns (the default).
Refer to Specifying Input Arguments for additional information on this subject.
Output
Specifies the worksheet location for placing the results of this operation.
Select this option to place the results of this operation in a new document workbook.
Select this option to place the results of this operation in a new worksheet.
Select this option to place the results of this operation starting at the worksheet location specified in the box to the right of this option.
Refer to Specifying Output Locations for additional information on this subject.
Options
Specifies the operation you want to perform. Select from this list Event Times to transform an event from the selected series to their event times representations, or select Times Event to return event times series to the times event format.
Indicates the type of event you want to detect. Select one of:
Single Value
Indicates the event you want to detect is represented by a single numerical value. If you select this option you must type the corresponding value in the Value box.
Value Range
Indicates the event you want to detect is represented by a numerical range of values. If you select this option you must type the low and high values delimiting the range in the Low and High boxes, respectively.
![]() | In Value Range cases, the specified low and high values are considered part of the event. |
LT Threshold (Lower Than Threshold)
Specifies the event you want to detect is represented by all numerical values lower than the indicated threshold. If you select this option you must type the threshold value in the Value box, and select from the Context list if the threshold value itself should be considered as part of the event.
GT Threshold (Greater Than Threshold)
Specifies the event you want to detect is represented by all numerical values greater than the indicated threshold. If you select this option you must type the threshold value in the Value box, and select from the Context list if the threshold value itself should be considered as part of the event.
Value List
Indicates the event you want to detect is represented by a list of numerical values. If you select this option you must type the list of values in the Value List box.
Type in this box the value or threshold you want to associate with the selected event type.
![]() | This box is only available when Event Type is set to one of Single Value, LT Threshold, or GT Threshold. |
Type in this box the lower limit of the numerical range associated with the event you want to detect.
![]() | This box is only available when Event Type is set to Value Range. |
This value will be included as part of the event.
Type in this box the upper limit of the numerical range associated with the event you want to detect.
![]() | This box is only available when Event Type is set to Value Range. |
This value will be included as part of the event.
Select one of Inclusive or Exclusive to indicate whether the specified threshold value should be included or excluded as being part of the event.
![]() | This box is only available when Event Type is set to LT Threshold, or GT Threshold. |
Type in this box the list of values, separated by commas, semicolons or spaces, you want to associate with the event.
![]() | This box is only available when Event Type is set to Value List. |
![]() | Event Type and related options are only available when Event Times is selected from the Operation list. |
Closes the dialog box and carries out this operation.
Closes the dialog box without carrying out this operation.
