![]() ![]() ![]() |
Use this dialog box to solve a system of simultaneous linear equations.
Input
Specifies the worksheet location of the input data for this operation.
Provides a reference to the extent of the data available in the currently active worksheet. Use this range as a guide for typing valid extents in the Independent Variables and Independent Variables boxes.
Type in this box the range of cells containing the data you want to use as input for this command (independent variables).
Type in this box the range of cells containing the data you want to use as input for this command (dependent variables).
Check this box to indicate that the data specified by the Independent Variables and Dependent Variables is organized in rows as opposed to columns (the default).
Refer to Specifying Input Arguments for additional information on this subject.
Output
Specifies the worksheet location for placing the results of this operation.
Select this option to place the results of this operation in a new document workbook.
Select this option to place the results of this operation in a new worksheet.
Select this option to place the results of this operation starting at the worksheet location specified in the box to the right of this option.
Refer to Specifying Output Locations for additional information on this subject.
Check this box to plot the results of this operation.
Options
Gauss-Jordan
Select this option to use the Gauss-Jordan elimination algorithm for solving the equations.
QR via Householder
Select this option to use QR decomposition via Householder transformations for solving the equations.
Check this box to add a constant term to the set of generated equations. to the equations.
Solve Independently for Each Variable
Check this box to force the solution as a weighted combination of independent solutions based on each of the input variables.
Select the method by which the independent solutions are weighted.
Averaged
Select this option to scale the independent coefficients down to their average.
Determination Coefficient
Select this option to scale the independent coefficients down according to their variable's coefficient of determination.
![]() | The Weight Method option is only available when the Solve Independently for Each Variable box is checked. |
