Centering and Normalization dialog box

 

Use this dialog box to center and standardize data in Predictive Systems Lab documents.

 

Input

Specifies the worksheet location of the input data for this operation.

 

Valid Input Range

Provides a reference to the extent of the data available in the currently active worksheet. Use this range as a guide for typing valid extents in the Input Range box.

 

Input Range

Type in this box the range of cells containing the data you want to use as input for this command.

Series Context

 

Series in Columns

Select this option to indicate that the data specified by the Input Range box is organized in columns.

 

Series in Rows

Select this option to indicate that the data specified by the Input Range box is organized in rows.

 

One Series Column-Wise

Select this option to indicate that the data specified by the Input Range box is one series ordered across columns.

 

One Series Row-Wise

Select this option to indicate that the data specified by the Input Range box is one series ordered across rows.

Output

Specifies the worksheet location for placing the results of this operation.

 

New Workbook

Select this option to place the results of this operation in a new document workbook.

 

New Sheet

Select this option to place the results of this operation in a new worksheet.

 

Range Position

Select this option to place the results of this operation starting at the worksheet location specified in the box to the right of this option.

Options

 

Scale Factor

Type in this box a value different than 1 to scale the results of this operation by that factor:

 

 

Where are the centered series term values, and the resulting values.

 

Standardize

Choose this option to standardize the results of this operation. Standardization will set series term values according to the sample standard deviation of the data:

 

 

Where are the centered series term values, is the sample standard deviation, and the resulting values.

 

Mean and Variance

 

From all Terms

Select this option if you want the mean and variance for each input series calculated from all the terms of each series.

 

From First N Terms

Select this option if you want the mean and variance for each input series calculated from the first N terms of each series.  If you select this option, you must type the number of terms in the box to the right of this option.

 

OK

Closes the dialog box and carries out this operation.

 

Cancel

Closes the dialog box without carrying out this operation.
